Your wedding day is a whirlwind! You are filled with emotions and running around like a chicken with your head cut off! It’s a little bit of a blur, but there are parts I remember so clearly. It went by so quick, so we did our best to soak up and enjoy every moment of it. Below are 10 things I am glad I did on my wedding day. These made such a difference and I wouldn’t have changed any of them.
10 Things I am Glad I Did On My Wedding Day
1. Have Your Girls Pray Over You
This was such a special moment to have my mom, sister and friends pray over me before I walked down the aisle. It gave me peace and calmed all the nerves.
2. Wrote A Letter To Jared
A few days before the wedding I wrote Jared a note expressing my love to him. I knew I would be too emotional on the day of and wanted to take some time to reflect our relationship and share the excitement of our future. I included this note in the gift I delivered to him the day of the wedding. See what I got him here!
3. Ate Dinner Alone
While our guests were eating, our wedding planner set up a special room in our dressing room for us to slip away and eat. Often times couple barely get to touch the food because people keep interrupting them. This was a moment for us to be us and scarf down some food before the mayhem started.
4. Private Last Dance
I already shared this moment with you, but it of course had to make the list! Read more here.
5. I Didn’t Show Anyone My Dress Prior To The Ceremony
No one was allowed to see my dress before the wedding. There was only 3 bridesmaids and my sister who saw the dress before my big day. I wanted the moment I walked down the aisle to be a complete shock to everyone!
6. Talked To Every Guest At The Reception
After we ate alone, we went around to every table and spoke to each guest thanking them for coming and catching up with them. I think this is the polite thing to do after you are the hosts of the party!
7. Changed Shoes After The Ceremony
I slipped on some comfier shoes, so I could dance the night away and boy was that a good decision. Read more about my shoes here!
8. Got a Good Night’s Sleep The Night Before My Wedding
After the rehearsal dinner, all the girls spent the night together. We chatted for a little bit but all went to bed early to be rested. The last thing you want is to be hungover or have dark circles under your eyes on your big day!
9.Was Not On Social Media The Day Of The Wedding
This was hard for me, but I stayed off my phone the whole day. I didn’t want to be distracted or see a glimpse of Jared on Snapchat before it was time.
10. Final Walk Through
Because I am a MAJOR control freak, my wedding planner set everything up and then an hour or so before everything started I walked through everything to approve I liked it all or made changes if needed. One of my biggest fears was walking into my reception and hating everything and not seeing my vision played out. I HIGHLY recommend doing this!
