Rothy’s have been floating around my newsfeeds for quite some time and I knew they had a cult-like following. Back in November when I was planning my Disney trip I decided to pull the trigger and buy a pair of the Rothy’s Sneakers. They looked super comfortable and I thought they’d be great for Disney. I wanted to get them early so I could break them in and I’ve been testing them out for a few months now so I could share a true comprehensive Rothy’s sneaker review.
If you aren’t familiar Rothy’s is a shoe brand that prides its shoes on comfort and sustainability. That’s what really drew me to the brand. I love the sustainability element because all of their shoes are knit from Rothy’s signature thread (spun from plastic water bottles). They also really emphasize comfort so as I was planning my Disney trip I thought they’d be perfect. All of their shoes are also machine washable which I also thought would be perfect for Disney.
Rothy’s Sneaker Review
Overview
I decided to purchase the sneaker style because quite frankly I think the other style are pretty ugly. (Don’t hate me!) I do think the loafers are tolerable, but the ballet flats are a hard no for me. I could definitely see if you were a teacher or someone on their feet for long periods of time where maybe comfort ranks higher than style.
I got the slip-on sneaker style in the color sand. Sand might seem like a bold choice because they can get dirty but I also wanted to put how well they came clean to the test. I also like that this color is neutral and goes with everything.
I opened up my Instagram for people to submit questions about Rothy’s and the number one question I got was “Are they worth the price?” Rothy’s are not cheap at $125 for the slip-on sneaker style, however, compared to some other high-end sneaker brands it is pretty comparable.

Comfort
Going back to their big selling point, comfort. I originally bought these to wear at Disney and I ultimately did not wear them at Disney. (Check out this blog to see what shoes I did wear in Disney.) I wore them on my travel days to Disney Springs but I did not wear them to the parks. Personally, I have very flat feet and unfortunately for vigorous walking and hours and hours of standing, I didn’t think they would be good for my foot type. I needed something with more arch and ankle support.
However, these have quickly become my go-to shoes in everyday life. I wear them to run errands, grab lunch, take Beau on walks, etc. I would say they are great for everyday life or work but when it comes to extensive walking and standing they might not be a good fit if you have flat feet.
I took my normal size and they fit great. I would definitely recommend getting your normal size. I do also wear them with no socks because I find they are the most comfortable this way. They do start to smell but you can just pop them in the wash.
Lastly, for comfort, I was very impressed at the lack of break-in period for these sneakers. From the moment I put them on I was ready to go. Even without socks, I experienced no blisters or discomfort. This is definitely a major plus.
Washing/Durability
I’ve washed my Rothy’s Sneakers twice now and both times they come out spotless. I just add a little detergent and a little stain remover to any tougher stains and pop them in the wash. There are few pieces I remove before throwing them in.
If you remove the insoles there is a plastic part in the heel and I take that out (I didn’t the first time and nothing happened). I do throw the insoles in the wash as well since I wear them with no socks. I wash them on normal and then let them air dry.
After washing they looked brand new and I didn’t find any issue with the durability or comfort fading after washing.
Since I wear these basically every day I am hard on them and they have held up so well from airports to Target to restaurants and more. They are definitely high-quality and I LOVE that you can clean them so easily.
How I Style My Rothy’s Sneakers
Here are a few ways I’ve styled my Rothy’s Slip-On Sneakers. I typically wear them with casual outfits and they look great with multiple different styles of jeans or joggers.
Final Thoughts of my Rothy’s Sneaker Review
My final review is that I REALLY like them! I do think they are worth the price and I would buy another pair. Since I already have so many pairs of sneakers I don’t think I would multiple pairs of Rothy’s but something were to ever happen to this pair I would definitely purchase them again because they are truly comfortable and so easy to throw on and wash if needed.

Rothys are so great! Just the fact that you can wash them is such a game changer. I have a pair of the flats, but the sneakers are next on my list!

I totally agree that’s a big bonus!

This review was so helpful! I’ve been thinking about buying Rothys for my mom (she’s on her feet all day) and myself for a while. Your honest review is literally what I’ve been waiting for! Thank you!
Angela says
Yay! I am so glad to hear that!
Janet says
Hi there! Did you find they have good arch support?
Angela says
To be honest, they don’t have the best arch support. I have flat feet and they are fine but not for walking a lot!

Thanks for the article! I am the opposite of you- I love the way the points look but not so much the sneakers/loafers/round toe flats! The points have the instant ability to dress up any outfit, which I LOVE, so they’re my go to flat!
I do have one pair of the sneakers & just ordered my first pair of loafers!
I also agree that being able to wash your shoes is a GAME CHANGER- ESP if you have children! I was a little hesitant to drop $55 on my 5 year old son’s sneakers- but I quickly realized that I have no problem
Buying multiple pairs of Nike’s & Jordan’s that usually cost MORE at $65/$70/$75 a pop- so It was “justified” because they are EASILY WASHED & they are now my favorite footwear for my little guy. I bought him 4 pairs at $55 & they are amazing! He always gets compliments on them! anyway sorry I went off on a little diatribe there-
But this is an overall great & HONEST read, that I thoroughly enjoyed! Can’t wait to read more of your work! I’m heading over to the article on footwear at Disney- we just got back but we ALL had a difficult time with blisters!
