This might take you by surprise, but I am a total sucker for tacky Christmas lights and decor. The tackier the better in my eyes. Now Jared, on the other hand, loves the classic white light look. So this year was a little difficult when it came to decorating our first home together. If it were up to me we’d have multi-colored lights and stuffed talking Santas all around the house. Jared and I settled on a theme we could both agree on…plaid. This lets me have some color with red, gold and green accents, while he still got the classic white light Christmas tree look.
One of the traditions we have started since getting married is collecting different Christmas tree ornaments for the different places we travel together. Our first ornament was this sand dollar one from our Honeymoon in St.Lucia. Now that we have a color scheme and theme, it will be much easier to choose ornaments on future vacations.
I have a feeling our theme will change in the years to come, but for now, it’s perfect for our current apartment and style. Who knows maybe I can convince Jared multi-colored lights are the way to go!
