I feel like since most bride’s use Pinterest as their wedding planning bible, you see a lot of the same trends at weddings. AKA Sparkler exits…There is nothing I HATE more at weddings than sparkler send offs. I have been to several weddings and they never turn out good. So if you are considering it don’t. The guests either hold them too low or they get lit too early and the bride and groom are rushed and there is always excess trash!
So the number one thing on my do not do list was sparklers…
I wanted something easy and that would look good in pictures. I found these LED balloons on Amazon and I thought they would look so cool in pictures! They became a little more of a hassle than expected, but they ultimately turned out perfect.
I initially wanted everyone holding a white LED ballon while we left, but after realizing we couldn’t have guests let them go due to the environmental hazard because of the LED light, we had to move to plan B. I then wanted the balloons to line the sidewalk while guests waved white glow sticks. This all made perfect sense in planning, but unfortunately on our big day it was pretty windy. Forcing us to move to plan C.
Plan C was to line the indoor hallway in the LED balloons and then have guests waved the glow sticks leading to the horse drawn carriage. This wasn’t ideal but ultimately turned out perfect. It’s one of those things that you can’t control on your wedding and you just have to let it go.
When planning your send off I highly recommend thinking about these 3 things…
- Time of Day – Throwing confetti would be so cute but if you are having an evening wedding there is a strong chance it won’t show up in pictures.
- Venue Constrictions – Some venues won’t allow certain things like sparklers, rice, balloons, etc.
- Weather – This could be a big factor, if it’s raining sparklers won’t work. If it’s windy balloons won’t work. ALWAYS have a Plan B and C or think of something that is full proof.
I would also recommend working closely with your bridesmaids, house party and wedding planning to ensure a seamless exit both for you and your husband but also for your guests!
