It is HOT here in Texas, it feels like 106 degrees outside hot and I’m not exaggerating. I’ve been living in as little clothing as possible, and that’s dresses! They are easy to throw on while looking polished and still staying cool. A lot of places are releasing their new fall items and the LAST thing I want to buy right now is sweaters but I am looking for pieces that can be worn now in the heat and transition into fall. This navy midi dress is going to be one of those easily transitional items.
Navy Midi Dress
This navy midi dress is from a new to me boutique, Shop Avara. They just launched their pre-fall collection and they are based in Dallas so they totally get the feeling of pre-fall in the south. This collection contains pieces you can wear now in more fall color schemes so they can easily transition and be layered with other items.
I’m only 5’2″ and this midi dress is a great length. I’ve spoken to some fellow petite ladies recently over lunch and they were both complaining about not being able to wear midi dresses because of their height and I think it’s not ruling out the style completely but finding the right ones.
Along with the length of this midi dress, I love the fabric. It’s 100% polyester but feels similar to a silk like material. It’s very lightweight and comfortable to wear, plus because of the texture of the fabric, it makes the perfect dressy casual to a cocktail dress. You could easily wear this dress to a wedding or baby shower or to church, date night, weddings, etc.
The placement of the cinching around the waist makes the dress extremely flattering for pear shaped girls like myself and I love the sleeves and more conservative neckline.
For an easy date night look, I paired this dress with some nude embellished heels and a navy clutch. I also went with some simple pearl hoops earrings and put my hair up for a more formal look, but really the number of ways to style this dress is endless.
I’m wearing a size medium and it runs true to size.
