Each season I try to find one to two trends worth buying, however, I always have a max in my head that I know I am not willing to spend more than that on. For Spring 2020, two trends that I am loving are wide brim hats (which we saw in the fall too) and puff sleeves blouses, but how much do I spend on this season’s trends?
How Much Do I Spend On This Season’s Trends?
Wide Brim Hats
I bought a wide brim hat in the fall when I first started seeing them everywhere. I started slowly with a $20 a dark brown one from Target. This Spring I decided to purchase two more in a light pink and a cream. They are both very Spring-y but can be worn with a lot of different outfits and now that I have two I am done buying hats for this season.
These felt wide brim hats are most commonly $80-150+ which is not something I want to pay for when I might only get 1 season of wear out of it, since trends don’t typically last for longer than that. For something like an accessory, my max budget is $30. A lot of my blogger friends have this hat for $80, but that is just way too far outside my budget. I found this hat for only $29 and this one for only $15 (with a coupon) and they are both exactly what I was looking for.
Puff Statement Sleeve Blouses
A statement sleeve is a trend that’s been around a while, but this season we are seeing it’s all about the puff and specifically an exaggerated shoulder. I first tried on this cream puff sleeve blouse in my Trunk Club box, but again wasn’t willing to splurge. I then kept my eye on it and it eventually went on sale. For something like this, I am not willing to spend more than $50 and that’s the max. Since I invested in this one, moving forward I won’t be willing to spend quite as much.
I find that picking one to two trends helps me not feel overwhelmed each season and I can still remain true to my style as well stay within my budget by not splurging on every single trendy piece in my wardrobe.
When it comes to trends, what’s the max you want to spend? Let me know in the comments below!

My trendy accessories budget is about the same as yours! For cheap statement jewelry I don’t like to spend a lot since I don’t wear it for that long!
