I’m a sucker for Kate Spade … who isn’t? But who also wants to spend $40 on a pair of earrings when you can make similar ones yourself?! All over my Pinterest and Instagram feed these “DIY Kate Spade Earrings” kept popping up, so I decided to see if it was as easy as everyone claimed it to be. I saw several different methods from Mod Podge and loose glitter, to clear nail polish and loose glitter, to what I ended up using, glitter nail polish with a clear top coat. The glitter nail polish and clear top coat was super easy and took little to no time. There was also no cleanup. I made my own pair and then my mom and sister loved them so much they wanted a pair so I thought I would share my process with you.
I found this pair of earrings and nail polish at my local Wal-Mart. The earrings were only $2.88, the nail polish was around $2 and I already had the clear top coat. Here is the original Kate Spade Earrings and below you’ll see my finish product. Keep reading for step by step instructions!
Step 1: Prepare earrings by cleaning with rubbing alcohol to remove oils from the surface.
Step 2: One coat of glitter nail polish and let dry for 5-10 minutes
Step 3: Add second coat and and let dry again
Step 5: Style it and wear with confidence!
So how do the DIY pair compare? Would you splurge for the real ones or save and make them yourself?
