I have been thinking a lot lately about where I find my worth? A lot of people’s worth (bloggers especially!) comes from how many followers they have or how many likes they have on pictures and believe me I am just as guilty of this. I think people also look to their titles to find their self worth like CEO, Mother, Wife, Sister, etc. I think in today’s society is easy to get wrapped in surface level things or comparing yourself to others around you and again I am just as guilty!
In church last week, the sermon was all about Romas 8:12-17 talking about being a child of God. This really hit home with me. Instead of getting wrapped up in Instagram followers or job titles, we should be putting our worth in our Father and being His child.
“For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.” Romans 8:14
As children of God we have perks that non-Christians have. We have security in him, that no matter the high or low point we are at in our life, we know that God has a plan and we can trust him that he has it under control. And that this security is something that can’t be taken away and not based on performance, so no matter how many Instagram followers you have God is still going to love you unconditionally.
And unlike Instagram or your job, God will always be there. These materialistic things can be taken away at anytime, but God will always be there.
We also have a level of Intimacy with God. He loves us more than we could ever imagine and through prayer and His word we have instant access to call to him whenever we need with whatever we need.
“But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.” John 1:12
Throughout the next couple of days I urge you to evaluate where you find your worth and learn how you can shift that identity to be in power and love of Jesus Christ.
I love this, Angela! I’ve actually been thinking so much lately about how in the end, all that matters is God. He’ll always be good and right and true.
