Each workplace is different, I’ve been to elaborate Holiday parties where they rent out a resort for the company and it’s a party all weekend and I’ve been to Holiday parties at the owners home. Here are a few tips on what to wear to a work Christmas party.
What To Wear To A Work Christmas Party
If it’s your first year at your company definitely feel out the vibe of the party, talk to your coworkers or mentors and see what they are wearing, if it’s a full meal or light bites, etc. This will really help you determine the mood and the attire.
If it’s party during work hours you can assume it’s more casual everyday attire. If it’s a weekend getaway you can guess there’s going to be a formal or dressier night. Lastly and probably most commonly, if you work for a small business and it’s at the owner’s or your bosses home you can go with something festive and casual, but still put together.
As a rule to live by it’s always better to be overdressed. Now take that with a grain of salt… don’t show up to your bosses home in a full ballgown.
Going red or green is always safe and of course, you can’t go wrong with all black and a statement earring.
I personally love a little glamour, and this Redford Jacket from Duffield Lane scream holidays. This would be perfect for something more casual like I styled it here with a maroon turtleneck, jeans, and cheetah loafers. For something during the workday, you could even swap out the turtleneck for a button down and for something a little dressier you could swap out the jeans for black pants and heels.
This jacket is a showstopper but is also classy enough to be over the top or tacky.
