As silly as this sounds my main concern about going to Disneyland was where am I going to put my stuff while I am on the rides and what to bring to Disneyland. I knew I wanted to bring a small backpack, but I was concerned about the size and not having enough space for everything I wanted to bring.
I grabbed my go-to stylish backpack from Vera Bradley. I love this because it is so chic, has plenty of pockets and is comfortable to wear for long periods of time.
SO to answer my biggest concern and likely yours too…What do I do with my stuff while I am on the rides? I grew up going to Six Flags and I love roller coasters and fast rides. At Six Flags, they had cubbies to put your stuff in during the ride or I made my mom hold it while she was waiting. Disneyland, although, has fast rides but it’s completely different than an amusement park like Six Flag s.
Most of the really fast rides have a drawstring net to put your things in either in the seat in front of you like Indiana Jones or underneath your seat in rides like Soarin’. Other rides like Guardians of the Galaxy or Radiator Springs Racers I put my backpack strap around one of my legs and left it at my feet and it was completely fine! I’m sure Disney is prepared for people bringing a lot of items on rides with all the souvenirs they sell.
With my small backpack, I had to be pretty choosey with what I packed and I think I packed pretty well.
What to Bring to Disneyland
Packable Rain Jacket
When I got to Disneyland it was raining so I was wearing this, but once it stopped I was glad this rain jacket packed up nice and small and took up minimal space in my backpack.
Small Compact Umbrella
I slipped my umbrella in the pocket on the outside of the backpack where a water bottle might go to free up some space inside the bag for some more valuable items.
My Phone
This was pretty much in my back pocket or my hand the whole time I was walking around, but while on rides I would slip it in the backpack to keep it secure.
Portable Phone Charger + Cord
I knew my phone battery would be drained with all the stories, ordering food on the app and taking photos so I was thankful to have a portable phone charger especially since I had to uber home. They did have these for sale in a vending machine inside the gift shops, but I can’t imagine they were a good price.
Small Card Wallet
The size of this wallet is perfect for keeping all your must-have things together and compact without taking up too much space.
DSLR Camera
Honestly, because I was by myself I didn’t use my camera very often because it’s not very user-friendly. If I were to go back alone I would leave this out, but if I was with someone who knew how to use it I would definitely bring it.
Powder and concealer
I’m high maintenance and needed touch ups so I threw my powder and concealer in the front pocket of my backpack.
Lipstick
Also, high maintenance and wanted lipstick for photos.
Sunglasses
This was perfect for walking around, but I stored them inside the backpack when I was actually on the rides.
Brush
Because some of the rides were fast I wanted to be able to brush some of the crazy tangles out before they got too bad.
Hair Tie
I also brought a hair tie just in case I couldn’t stand my hair anymore.
Lastly, I did leave some space in my backpack to store my Mickey Ears while on fast rides or when I needed a break. Something no one tells you about those adorable Mickey Ears are they are pretty tight so after a long time, they will definitely give you a headband headache.
I hope this is helpful if you are heading to Disneyland or Disney World in the future. This was all the practical essentials I needed for my 8 hours in Disneyland.
