A few weeks ago, I was on the hunt for a new primer and so many people recommended the Tula primer. I was really against it because I tried Tula about 3 years ago it was not for me, so I didn’t want to waste my money again. Originally, the Tula products I tried broke me out and made my skin so much worse. I was super disappointed because everyone seemed to love it. I tried for a few weeks and then finally gave up.
Because of my previous experience, I was really hesitant to try any Tula products, but I gave it a go and was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it this time. You can read my review of the primer and the eye balm I tried here.
After trying those two products I wanted to explore the rest of the Tula line. Three years ago when I first tried Tula, their product selection was very limited because it was such a new brand. This time I tried the dew your thing oil-free gel cream, the keep it clear acne foam cleanser, the balanced beauty gummy vitamins for strong hair, skin & nails plus probiotics, and the protect + glow daily sunscreen gel broad-spectrum SPF 30.
I have really sensitive acne-prone skin so I wanted to try some products that would hopefully clear my skin without irritating it. Let’s jump into my thoughts, as a reminder these are always my 100% honest opinions!
Tested and Tried Vol. 2 – Tula Review
Dew your thing oil-free gel cream
I am pretty picky when it comes to moisturizers because I want something hydrating but not greasy and also lightweight. Tula claims this moisturizer is “Like a glass of water for dry skin! This addictive gel-cream is an oil-free face moisturizer that leaves skin quenched, dewy, and revived in a weightless, oil-free texture. Great for all skin types, especially those with problematic skin.”
This gel-cream checks all of the boxes for me. The word cream initially scared me but it’s very lightweight and a great daily moisturizer. I also REALLY like that it has a pump to keep everything sanitary. I use two pumps every application and only apply it in the mornings. Overall, I really like this product and will likely repurchase when I run out.
Keep it clear acne foam cleanser
This was the product I was most excited about but also the most nervous to try. Originally, I tried their cult classic Purifying Face Cleanser. This just didn’t work for my skin like I mentioned it really broke me out. I decided to try the acne foam cleanser this time because it seemed more suitable for my skin type.
For this cleanser, I use the double cleanser method and apply this after my normal cleanser I’ve been using for years. I find this helped transition my skin but also really target in on the acne problem areas after my skin has already been cleaned.
Again, I love that this has a pump and I love the foam consistency. I do think you get a really fair amount of product for the price. I’ve been using all of these products for about two months now and I haven’t seen any breakouts related to this cleanser and I find that it’s really helping my skin be clearer.
I had a few days where my skin specifically my chin area was really bad due to wearing my mask for longer periods of time than normal as well as hormones and I noticed two things. 1. my acne was not as bad as it would have been previously 2. it cleared up super quick which I like to attribute to this cleanser.
This product has to be my favorite out of all four I tried.
Balanced beauty gummy vitamins for strong hair, skin & nails plus probiotics
I’m not really a vitamin girl (probably should be, but I’m not) however a few months back I started taking a hair, skin, and nails gummy vitamin I picked up from Target. I was at breaking point with my skin and was trying everything. I liked the one I was using ok, but I couldn’t tell a huge difference and didn’t love the way it tasted. I am so glad I decided to try the Tula one because it actually tastes good and again I can really tell a difference in my skin.
An area I am most self-conscious about is my back and shoulders. I get what’s commonly referred to as “backne”. I have ever since I was a teenager and again I’ve tried just about everything. Since starting this gummy vitamin I have definitely noticed a difference. Now it’s not a drastic overnight difference but my skin on my back and shoulders is definitely a lot more clear.
Protect + glow daily sunscreen gel broad-spectrum SPF 30
Lastly, is this sunscreen, now to be honest everyone RAVES about this sunscreen and I think it’s ok. I definitely think it’s overpriced and you can find options at the drugstore. (Check out this blog post for my recommended drugstore face sunscreens)
I do really like that it’s easy to apply and it’s lightweight. I actually forget I’m wearing it, but it does have a slight sunscreen-y smell when applying.
Unlike other sunscreens, Tula claims this sunscreen helps protect skin against blue light. That seems a little hard to believe but honestly, I have no idea. This is the one product that I think is just ok, it’s nice to have but I could live without it.
If you are interested in trying any of these Tula products they did give me a coupon for 15% off with promo code PINEAPPLE15. Please let me know if you have any questions. I was definitely hesitant to give Tula another try but I am really glad I did!
