Football season is back this year and honestly bigger than ever! So many fans are excited to be back in the stands and back at the tailgates. I am an adjacent sports fan due to Jared’s love for the hogs and frogs (Arkansas and TCU, of course). I am, however, a fan of parties and any excuse to see friends! At the end of last year, I threw an at-home tailgate, and since I never got a chance to share it I thought would give you some tailgate party inspiration for your tailgates this year!
Tailgate Party Inspiration
This inspiration can be replicated at home or at a tailgate outside the stadium! The key is to lean into the team colors and make it easy! All of this decor was under $200 and can be tailgate after tailgate for the whole season!
The key is to think out of the box with decor! Head to the kids section at Target or the sports section in Walmart or even browse Amazon for some cheap items like a table runner. The disco lights are something you’d typically see on a table at tailgate but they add a little glitz and can be repurposed around the holidays.
My favorite part of the table are actually the non-traditional decor items like the kid-sized footballs which are really affordable or the sports memorabilia like the pennants. I even sprinkled in some unique memorabilia like the signed football which was a gift and the vintage cokes which I borrowed from a girlfriend.
The red and white plates and fun disco ball tumblers and disco ball lights really elevate the table and take it to the next level! The black and white stripe table runner also is an easy way to level up a boring plastic disposable table cloth. This gives a nod to the referee jerseys and also breaks up the red tablecloth.
When it comes to food, y’all know I am NO Betty Crocker so I had lunch catered by our favorite local BBQ restaurant and then added some fun red and white treats. Grab anything the color of your team! I added in Kit-Kats, chocolate-covered pretzels, Cherry Sours, and some Red and White Popcorn. I put all of the treats in some party favor boxes I found in the kid’s party section. This makes for easy cleanup and an extra pattern to break up the stripes.
When it comes to parties and especially tailgates, work smarter not harder! Think easy setup and easy teardown!
Lastly, you can’t forget about your car! Grab some fun garland or balloon latter and some tape and boom your car looks as festive as ever! If you want to be extra you could even make a balloon garland for your trunk, truckbed, or tent!
I hope this inspires you to take your tailgate party to the next level and helps you cut a few corners to make it easy!
