A few weeks ago I purchased a second-hand Apple Watch from a girlfriend to test out how I liked before splurging on one for myself. I know, I think I’m the last person to finally get on the Apple Watch bandwagon. I really wanted to get back on track with making my health a priority especially now that I am back in the office and sitting in a cube all day. Shortly after getting my Apple Watch I downloaded and began using the app Paceline. Paceline is the FIRST-EVER fitness rewards platform that adds financial benefit to your physical activity. I’ve been using Paceline for several weeks now and wanted to share more about it in an honest Paceline review. Spoiler: I really like it and I think you will too!
Paceline Review
You guys know I love anything that helps me save money! Paceline is so unique because it’s so easy to use and helps you reach your fitness goals while earning real rewards like Starbucks gift cards…yes, please! And the Paceline app is completely FREE in the Apple Store.
How it works is after you download the app (Using promo code ANGELA) you connect your Apple Watch, Garmin, or Fitbit & get moving. The goal is to accomplish 150 Paceline minutes each week (roughly 30 mins for 5 days) and get rewarded. It could be neighborhood strolls, dog walks, marathon runs, or really anything in between, just 150 weekly Paceline minutes gets you a reward. I take Beau on a 15 min walk every day when I get home from work so I just turn on my outdoor walk on my Apple Watch and I already earned half my Paceline minutes for the day.
The key is 150 minutes of exercise with an elevated heart rate, which can be a little different from an average workout duration. For example, when I go to my dance classes they’re an hour long but I only have an elevated heart rate for 30 minutes so that equals 30 Paceline minutes.
The more you move the more rewards you unlock! Once you repeat week after week you build your streaks, unlocking even more rewards!
You can choose from rewards from brands such as Amazon, Therabody, Pandora, Target, Starbucks & more! Top brands are available on week 4 of your streak, which is amazing motivation to keep going! There’s also an option to donate your rewards to a charity you love, which I think is really special! ! Amazon and a charity donation is always available regardless of your streaks.
Linking Your Card
The final step when activating your Paceline account is to link a credit card, which I know can be scary. I actually held off doing this too at first. But linked credit cards help Paceline curate rewards in the future. The aggregate health and credit card info allow Paceline to negotiate rewards directly with their partners (ie. better reward in the future!). Paceline doesn’t see your credit card number, online credentials, address, or what you actually bought from a store, and the credit card information is never shared or sold. Paceline also doesn’t ever sell user’s health data, so you have nothing to worry about!
And if you still aren’t comfortable there is an option to link your PayPal account as well. This is actually the route I went down because, honestly, I do everything on PayPal!
I’ve been using Paceline for a few weeks now and I love it. I am going to be moving weekly, so I might as well get rewarded for it. My favorite part is how easy it is! Once you sign up it automatically syncs to your watch and I don’t even have to think about it. I just turn on my workouts on my watch and it tracks everything in the background and I get rewarded for it!
All my Pumpkin Spice Lattes this fall will be courtesy of Paceline (and my hard work, of course).

Why do you need a code if it’s free? Excited to try it but will I be charged eventually?
