I have a love-hate relationship with New Year’s Eve just like I have a love-hate relationship with sequins. I feel like the expectations of New Year’s Eve are so high and rarely does it deliver.
In my head, I am going to go to an event or a bar in a super cute outfit and dance, hang out with friends and live my best life until the countdown at midnight and ring in the New Year with a champagne toast. The reality is I will be in a crowded bar where I can barely move and paid way too much for the cover to even get in and then I will spend the night trying to dance with feet that hurt and hundreds of other sweaty people. The New Year will come and go and nothing special will happen. Anyone else relate?
I also feel the same way about sequins…in my head I know they are itchy and uncomfortable and I tell myself I will never wear them again and then every New Year’s Even what do I decide to wear? Sequins, of course!
New Year’s Eve Outfit Inspiration
This year may actually different not when it comes to the expectation vs. reality of New Year’s but the sequins. I finally found a sequin top that is comfortable and not itchy. I honestly never thought those words would come out of my mouth.
This top from Duffield Lane is fun and flashy and COMFORTABLE! It’s fully lined so you don’t have to worry about your arms being rubbed raw or something poking you through the fabric.
It is an investment piece but you can’t put a price on a comfortable sequin top!
I love the black sequins because it’s so different and flashy without being tacky and over the top. It pairs great with black jeans and heels for a classic all-black New Year’s look. It would also look great with a skirt, leather leggings or fun printed pants depending on how bold you want to be. It is a tunic so it covers the booty so if you want to rock leggings, you can do it with ease!
I kept my jewelry minimal because this shirt does all the talking! I think it would also look precious with a red lip!
