Black watch plaid is one of my favorite prints of winter. Unlike traditional red and green plaid, black watch can be worn all winter long! Last January, both Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle were seen wearing black watch plaid so that’s just proof you can wear it all winter long. Here’s a little black watch plaid outfit inspiration as we move into winter.
Black Watch Plaid Outfit
I paired these velvet black watch plaid skinny pants from Vineyard Vines with a simple black crewneck sweater. This black crewneck sweater has been a staple for me so far this year. I typically don’t wear black but it’s definitely something that has been growing on me.
I wanted to go for a dressier look, so I added these closed-toe suede heels, but you could easily opt for black booties if you wanted something more casual.
It was also bitter cold the day of these photos, so my coat HAD to stay on. This camel coat is something I wear over and over again. Although not something I wouldn’t typically reach for with this outfit, I love how it breaks up all of the black and adds a touch of warmth with the camel color.
Y’all know I love my Barrington totes and I am a one bag kind of girl, meaning I don’t switch out my bag for every outfit I just grab one and go. Although the pants and the sweater are black, the navy on the bag still complements the outfit nicely and the green just matches perfectly. The large pattern of the plaid and the small pattern of the bag also complement each other nicely, without being too overwhelming or conflicting.
