Last week, I shared this tweed longline blazer styled perfectly for work, but today I thought I would show you how to dress down a blazer for a more casual look. I really want to be better about sharing how to style pieces multiple ways, after all, I don’t wear them styled the same way every time.
How To Dress Down A Blazer
As I mentioned in last week’s blog post this blazer has the slightest hint of pink running throughout the fabric, so I really wanted to pull that out with a blush sweatshirt. I love pairing a sweatshirt under a blazer because of how the juxtaposition of the structured blazer and casual loose-fitting sweatshirt works so well together. This sweatshirt is embellished with blush-colored pearls to keep it interesting.
To keep the casual look going I went with my new favorite jeans, these high waisted light wash cropped jeans from Madewell. The light wash denim instantly gives it the laid back look. If you are looking to dress down your blazer, a super-easy way is to start with light denim even if you are wearing a button-down this will casual-fy the look.
I also love sneakers with blazers so this look really encompasses my favorite way to dress down a blazer. For casual Fridays, I often wear sneakers and blazers. Because this blazer is primarily black I thought my black and white Adidas superstars would work perfectly.
Even if you don’t have these exact pieces, you can take similar items to create a casual laid back look with a blazer. I would totally wear this outfit to work on a casual day or even on the weekends when I want to look casual but polished.
