Blazers are one of my favorite closet staples, they are so versatile and can be worn to much more than just work. I am always reaching for my blazers during fall and spring because it’s a great way to add a sophisticated look to any outfit during the transition months. I snagged this blazer for under $35 and wanted to share a fall business casual outfit inspiration with a plaid blazer.
Fall Business Casual Outfit Inspiration with a Plaid Blazer
Although I am not heading into the office physically anytime soon I still have quite a few occasions to wear a blazer, whether that’s date night with Jared, a rare Zoom meeting I need to dress up for, or even a networking event. A blazer is kind of like my secret cool-girl weapon. Anytime I need a little confidence boost or just want to feel strong and powerful in an outfit, I reach for a blazer.
The most common way I wear blazers is similar to how I styled this one. I love to pair blazers with a t-shirt and jeans for a casual put-together look. The most important thing when selecting jeans to go with your blazer is to think about fit. Skinny jeans are a no-brainer but things get a little tricky when you enter the boyfriend jean territory. As you can see in this outfit, my boyfriend jeans are still tapered and somewhat fitted to still give me some shape. If you go for boyfriend jeans that are looser and boxy then you might start to look sloppy or boxy because of the natural shape of the blazer.
As far as the t-shirt, a white t-shirt is my go-to. It’s one less thing I have to think about and they are comfortable and don’t distract from the look. (Check out this blog for the best white t-shirt on the market for under $20) For the plaid, the white t-shirt really lets the plaid pop. If you are wearing more of a sold color blazer a striped t-shirt is also a great option. For accessories, I really wanted to play off of the warm brown tones in the jacket but I also wanted to keep it simple so I went with simple leather loafers, which I believe every woman should have in their closet.
I also went with a simple leather crossbody. This bag is so timeless and keeps your outfit looking polished and put-together without it being distracting or overbearing. This bag is more of an investment and I actually received it as a gift from my sister for my birthday, but I will use this for many years to come because of the high-quality genuine leather.
I feel like oftentimes people are intimidated to wear blazers or think it’s too stuff or only for the office, but blazers can be fun! Start simple like I did here with a basic white t-shirt and jeans (which you should already have in your closet) and you’re good to go!
