My first blog post was published on January 20th, 2015 and since then I have grown so much as a blogger and as a person. I’ve been thinking about my time as a blogger and what my upcoming goals are for The Thrifty Pineapple, so I thought I would share my experience as a blogger…so far.
I would say my life experiences in the last 2 years have definitely had an impact on my fashion and of course my blog. Staright out of college, my style was t-shirts and nike shorts all day everyday but now that I am a young professional, my style has shifted.
“Fashion Blogger” is such a weird term because I feel like it sounds a lot cooler than it really is. When I tell people I’m a fashion blogger people are so intrigued. You can ask any of my friends that I have begged/bribed to take my Instagram photo, it’s really not that cool. Sure, I get nice perks like free products but there is a lot of work that goes into it.
I was watching an Instagram story the other day from another blogger and she was talking about how blogging is intended to look so easy and effortless from an outsider’s perspective, but really there are hours of planning, photography, backend coding on the website that goes un-noticed.
As a blogger, I think it is really easy to get wrapped up in sponsored posts and living this glamorous life, but I think ultimately you have to stay true to who you are and be genuine in how you want to be perceived. I would say this concept applies to everyone! I never want to edit my Instagram or blog photos too much. I’m not going to go out and by the latest Chanel bag just for a photo, because honestly there’s no way I could afford that.
I initially started my blog as a creative outlet, now I would consider it a serious hobby. Throughout my time blogging, I’ve met some amazing people, been to breathtaking events and had wonderful opportunities, I even landed the job I have now because of my blog and the connections I’ve made.
I’ve definitely become more tech-savvy since starting my blog and currently I’m working on my photography skills. I really love editing photos right now! Saturation is an amazing thing!
If you would have told me two years ago that I would be shooting with a photographer in Denver, CO for blog images, I would have thought you were crazy. The power of Instagram is amazing. The photos below came about because I was stuck in Denver for an extra day because of a work trip and decided to reach out to a local photographer for a shoot on Instagram. I love building those relationships and creating a community and it’s something I only want to get better at.
For the last two years, I have provided you with consistently one blog a week. My goal for the next few months is to produce 3 blogs a week. I will continue with my fashion posts, but I hope to add more variety with sale announcements, faith, travel tips and even a new series about weddings. Let me know in the comments below, why you read my blog and what you would like to see in upcoming posts.
Thanks y’all!
Angela
