Alright, it is has been 2 full months of barre! I started out strong and I am not going to lie I slightly trickled off from my 3 times of week schedule. Life happens, you know? Between planning a wedding, working full time, teaching dance and blogging I don’t always have time. I at least made one to two times a week the last couple of weeks.
I also tried a spin class this month…and let me know tell you, I would never in my life recommend a spin class. It was literally the worst workout class I have ever been to. The class I took had a scoreboard to see where everyone ranked in the class and shocker… I was at the bottom. It was wayyyyy to intense and way too competitive.
The thing I like about Smart Barre it is a very calming encouraging atmosphere. Everyone is welcome and each class looks different. I have worked out beside ladies who are older than me, younger than me, bigger than me and smaller than me. With Smart Barre you are there to challenge yourself not compete with others. They make it clear that only you know your body.
After the spin class, I tweaked my hip so I modified some of the movements in class and no one judged me or looked at me funny because of it. I really love the instructors at Smart Barre because of their positivity and eagerness to learn and try new things. I feel like every class I have been something new and different is tried which is fun. The class structure and routine is the same but the movements are slightly different depending on the class.
I will continue to go to Smart Barre to get in shape for April (the BIG DAY!) , I just need to find my motivation and determination again.

Hello!!
First, I love your down to earth, here’s the truth, style! Tried a spin class in college and thought I was going to die before the thing ended. Have you tried PureBarre? Just wondering if you had and what differences/pros/cons you saw between the two. I signed up for a year long autodraft at PB before my wedding, I ended up only going for two months because I always compared myself to other girls my age (I know, I know, bad idea lol).

Thanks for taking the time to read my post, Sierra! Spin was DEFINITELY not my thing! I have not tried Pure Barre yet, but I’m hoping to try a class soon because I am curious to see how they compare as well. I’ve heard that the Smart Barre environment is much more encouraging and uplifting than Pure Barre. I went to a class in the middle of the day on my day off at Smart Barre and all the ladies were 55+ which was so awesome to see them doing their own thing at their own pace. I’m sad to hear you did have a pleasant experience if you are in the area I would recommend checking out a class at Smart Barre. I will keep you posted once I try out Pure Barre.
