This is my first season ever to own a cape and although I had been eyeing, I’m not going to lie, I was a little intimidated when I got it in. A winter cape coat is so chic and stylish while giving off total Kate Middleton vibes. It’s essentially the same thing as a peacoat, so I don’t know what made it more difficult to style but it was. Here’s a breakdown on how to style a winter cape coat.
How To Style A Winter Cape Coat
Go Basic
When in doubt keep it simple! A simple white button or black sweater would be the easiest way to style it. This way you can let the cape stand on its own and don’t have to worry about anything else.
Pattern Play
Like I did here, try mixing some patterns. The rule of thumb is always one big patter to every small pattern. So since the herringbone print is small and symmetrical, I went with a large black and white stripe pattern. This keeps things interesting while still being visually appealing.
Pop of Color
Since just your arms are showing another fun way to style this winter cape coat would be to wear a fun color underneath. This would be such an easy way to style it for a bold statement. Even if you didn’t want to opt for a bright pink, something like an olive green would be beautiful.
This Draper James winter cape is going to be on repeat during the colder days and in case you were wondering, this cape is SUPER warm while still being ultra stylish.
