Ok, this is my first December in Houston and I’m utterly confused. Today we are experiencing a “cold front” and it’s currently 63 degrees outside. LOL! This is making it extremely difficult to dress for winter when it’s still so warm out. I’m not complaining because I am not a cold weather girlie but I’m just struggling to dress.
Over the last few months, I’ve really been trying to find transitional pieces that work for several types of weather. This Amazon dress is a recent find I am obsessed with! Amazon is super hit or miss but this is a total find!
Amazon Transitional Dress
I’ve worn it on its own with simple flats to work on a really hot today, see below!
And most recently I threw on a long duster cardigan with a fun fall hat and boom a totally new look! I really wanted to bring out some of the colors in the floral so the tan cardigan is perfect for balancing out that busy print and pulling out the complementary colors in the floral.
The green hat also perfectly it together this neutral look and the black bag is the cherry on top.
The brown boots also add to the neutral look and add some warmth in to contrast the black base of the dress and black purse.
Lastly, I wanted to add some fun bracelets because the top half with the hat was already busy a big necklace or earring would overwhelm the look. I did a little half roll on the sleeves to really let the bracelets shine.
The dress runs a little small so I recommend sizing up (I got a medium). Another important note is it is not lined, so I just wear a basic slip under it and it’s perfect! If you don’t have a basic slip in your closet, consider this your sign to get one!
I am so surprised by how versatile this dress is and I think on those really cold days this dress could be layered with a wool coat and tights and boots or even on a rainy day with a trench coat and sneakers!
Stay tuned to see how I style it again this winter! I know it’ll be making more appearances!
