As y’all are reading this I am on the beach with my new HUSBAND! (AH!!) While I am enjoying my alone time with my hubby, I asked Laura Leigh to take over and speak from experience for 10 Must Pack Items For Your Beach Honeymoon. Take it away Laura Leigh!
Hi y’all, my name is Laura Leigh. I am the blogger behind the fashion + lifestyle blog Louella Reese. I am writing to you from Charlotte, NC where I live with my hubs and 13 year old yorkie, Reese Poppy. I am a lover of all things blue, southern, and sweet! On Louella Reese you will find lots of blue, fashion, desserts, and newly home decor. Hope you’ll stop over and take a look for yourself. On to today’s post though…
After our dream wedding in the middle of October my husband and I were off to Mexico. It was here we would spend our first days as husband and wife. We’d also experience our longest vacation together. As well as the longest amount of time together! To say we were excited would be the largest understatement. We couldn’t wait for the time together and hours on the beach lounging. We had plans of sun, sand, margaritas, and lots of indulging in tasty food. Therefore, we packed pretty simple but ended up having everything we needed. I only had one extra dress I didn’t wear. That’s pretty good for someone who usually over packs by about five outfits!
Today, I’m sharing what I packed and what I recommend you pack for a Mexican honeymoon. Or really any tropical honeymoon.
1. Dresses – These will be your go to item for dinner. After a day at the beach and/or spa, you will not be interested in pulling on pants or spending a lot of time putting a full look together. A dress makes everything easy and you’re husband will be happy!
2. Slide Sandals – I wore my slide sandals every single day at the beach. Occasionally, I wore them to dinner as well. Slides are easy to slip on and go. Great for taking on and off as you head to the bar for a drink or to grab a wood fire pizza from the grill. Also, we all hate that dreaded walk to the bathroom and again, these slides will make that easier.
3. Statement Sunglasses – A must have! You’re at the beach, somewhere fabulous, you’re shades need to reflect that. It’s your time to look like a celeb on the beach and rock some oversized sunnies. I personally would go with a great pair of Le Specs or Karen Walkers. You’re bound to make a statement in a pair from either of those brands.
4. Fabulous Wedges or Heels {one pair} – These are for the nights you want to skip your slides and dress up a bit more for dinner. I brought one really comfortable and stylish pair of wedges that I wore almost every night for dinner. Obviously they need to be comfortable as you may be walking across the resort property to dinner or be partaking in some dancing with your new husband.
5. Flowy Cover-up – While on the beach you’re going to be drinking margaritas or strawberry daiquiri’s and eating lots of chips and salsa. Which you totally deserve after all of that dieting for your wedding!! Therefore a flowy cover-up is a must. It’ll hide your afternoon food baby while also providing you with the perfect movement for a gorgeous beach shot.
6. A Camera – This is probably a duh but some people do forget about it! I say bring a nice camera for shots you’ll want to treasure forever as well as disposable or an instant camera. The latter two would be so fun for your goofy moments. Especially after a couple of tequila shots!
7. A Lightweight Sweater – Another must have item. While days are warm, there’s a chance the evenings could be cool. Especially if you’re taking walks on the beach after dinner. Choose one in a neutral shade that’ll match all of your dresses.
8. Bathing Suit Options {bikini, one piece} – You’re going to want options when it comes to swimsuits. The first couple of days you’ll be all, BRING ON the bikinis but after a couple of days of indulging you might just want a one piece. Plus there are SO many beautiful and sexy one pieces out there right now, you’re going to want to rock at least one.
9. Statement Earrings – These were my go to for dinner each night. I didn’t want to fuss a lot about my accessories or honestly wear a lot of make up. Therefore, I went with statement earrings. They provided that wow factor I wanted without a lot of effort. Plus they look great when you have your hair up and braided, which you’ll probably want to do a lot due to the heat/weather.
10. Adorable Beach Bag – This is the bag you’ll carry majority of your trip so you want it to be a cute one. Also, a functional one. You’ll be carrying all of your items for the beach as well as your husbands so it needs to be of decent size. I also brought little zip bags to fit inside to keep track of all of our little items.
I hope this list helps you plan and pack for your upcoming honeymoon. Or maybe even a getaway with your husband or gal pals here you have planned. If you liked what you read, please stop by louellareese.com and see what else I have for you all!
